Magdalena Wicher

Responsible research and innovation

Magdalena Wicher is particularly concerned with the contribution of her own work to society. She does research at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) and is working on her dissertation on governance aspects of science policy and research funding, using the example of Responsible Research and Innovation, at the University of Bergen, Norway.

I nominated Magdalena because I have come to know her as an evaluator who takes a very critical and constructive approach to RRI“, says Angela Wroblewski, also a researcher at IHS.

A particular strength in this context is Magdalena Wicher’s interdisciplinary orientation, which is evident in her previous research in the field of STS and gender studies. Her previous evaluation experiences also lie in this area and took place within the framework of projects funded by the European Research Framework Programme. Magdalena Wicher has also taught her approach to evaluation in the context of university continuing education at the University of Graz.

Magdalena describes a responsible approach to evaluation as participatory and comprehensive: „My idea is to see evaluation and monitoring as part of a programme and not as an extra asset that comes in later. It is important to think about evaluation from the very beginning, throughout the whole process. I would be happy to be part of it from the beginning for once.
