General information on data processing

The Austrian Platform for Research and Technology Policy Evaluation is an association with the aim of professionalising the evaluation culture of Austrian research and innovation policy, as well as facilitating subject-specific exchange between the actors in Austria and with their international colleagues. For this purpose, the platform offers various services that require the processing of personal data, e.g. the organisation of events and conferences, consultation and organisation of working groups, sending out a newsletter and disseminating information via social media, the collection and processing of relevant publications and the creation of own publications, etc.

The Austrian Platform for Research and Technology Policy Evaluation collects and processes personal data exclusively in accordance with the legal provisions (GDPR, DSG, TKG 2003). In this data protection information we inform you in accordance with Art 13 and Art 14 GDPR about the most important aspects regarding the collection and processing of personal data within the scope of our activities.

Individual processing operations

1. Data collection on our website

Our website uses so-called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your end device with the help of the browser. They do not cause any damage. We use cookies to make our offer user-friendly, for example, it is saved which language you prefer and the website is displayed again in the preferred language on your next visit. If cookies are deactivated, this type of functionality of our website may be limited.

No data is collected on our website itself that allows conclusions to be drawn about you personally. We use Matomo Analytics to collect statistics about the use of our website, whereby only that part of the IP address is stored which indicates the geographical location, but not the specific end device.

2. Social Media Plugins

Certain social media are embedded on the website via interfaces (so-called APIs). When visiting the website, these social media plug-ins automatically establish a connection with the respective social network and transmit data (IP address, website visit, etc). The data transfer happens without the intervention and outside the responsibility of the Austrian Platform for Research and Technology Policy Evaluation. We would like to point out that you can prevent this data transmission by objecting to the item “External media” at the beginning of the data protection query or by using your own browser extensions. Should you decide against the consent of external media, you can use the essential content of our website without restriction. You will then not be able to see embedded content such as videos or Twitter streams on the corresponding pages.

You must be 16 years of age or older to consent to these voluntary services. If you are younger, you must ask your legal guardian for permission.

For more information on this, including the content of the data collection by the social networks, please refer directly to the website of the relevant social network. As a rule, you can also adjust your privacy settings there. The social networks integrated on the website are:

Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.
Twitter’s applicable privacy policy can be found at https://twitter.com/privacy

3. Event registration

The Austrian Platform for Research Policy Evaluation organises events and courses on an ongoing basis. For this purpose, we need data from participants and interested parties for the purpose of planning and organising events, sending invitations and managing participation in events.

Depending on the event, the data requested during registration may vary. Depending on the requirements of the event, we collect and process different personal data, e.g:

  • Salutation
  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Address
  • Billing address
  • Assigned organisation (company/name)
  • Functions of the participants in the organisation
  • Job, industry or business name
  • Consent to promotional mailings
  • Special needs (e.g.: food restrictions)
  • Permission to use event photos on website and social media pages to market the event

In the registration mask for event entries on this website, only first and last name, institution and email address are requested by default.

Personal data will be deleted in accordance with legal requirements. In any case, the data will be kept until the end of the event and its follow-up.

Certain data may be passed on to cooperation partners if this is necessary for the successful running of the event. If this is the case, we explicitly point this out in the registration process and refer to the specific descriptions of the respective events and the organisers involved. In all other cases, personal data will never be passed on to third parties without your consent – see next point.

Data storage and data recipient

Your personal data will be deleted by us as soon as the purpose of storage and processing no longer applies, provided that there is no legal obligation for longer storage. Your data will also be deleted as soon as you successfully object or withdraw your consent.

With using our services and your consent, your data may be passed on to the following recipients:

  • Marketing service providers
