The Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) is Austria’s leading economic research organisation and focuses on empirical analysis and economic forecasts. WIFO has played a key role in many landmark projects for the European Commission dealing with the analysis and the monitoring of innovation performance in the European Union and beyond.
In carrying out its responsibilities, WIFO follows these basic principles:

The standard of the services offered by WIFO is underpinned by theory-based research using state-of-the-art empirical methods, up to date statistical data as well as knowledge of institutional and political settings.

An international comparative perspective informs all studies in order to develop consistent economic policy recommendations. WIFO carries out research on behalf of international institutions such as the OEC D, the EU and the World Bank.
