Evaluation Talent Award

The Evaluation Talent Award of the Austrian Council for Research, Science, Innovation and Technology Development and the Austrian Platform for Research and Technology Policy Evaluation (fteval) is presented every 1-2 years to an outstanding (newcoming) evaluator in the RTI sector. The award is intended to help raise public awareness of the importance of evaluations for evidence-based policymaking and to offer young evaluators the opportunity to position themselves in the relevant community. In this way, the Austrian Council for Research, Science, Innovation and Technology Development and the fteval platform aim to support the further development of the evaluation landscape in Austria.

Evaluation Talents 2021

In 2021, the Council for Research and Technology Development, together with the Austrian Platform for Research and Technology Policy (fteval), awarded the Evaluation Talent Award for the first time. The aim is to honour the good work done by young evaluators to further improve research policy and to make the talents visible in the international expert community.

The expert jury, consisting of experienced actors in the field of research policy and its evaluation, was enthusiastic at the award meeting: “We are pleased about the competent nominations, which cover many different aspects of evaluation. There is a strong generation growing up here and that is reassuring!”.

Because the nominations were so impressive, the jury decided without further ado to award two prizes in 2021. The two prize winners are two researchers with different emphases in their approach to evaluation:

The Evaluation Talent Award was created on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the fteval platform. The award ceremony took place in May 2022 during the REvaluation Conference – European Research and Innovation Policy Evaluation Conference.
